Jim Brown received his real estate license in 1989 and became a broker in 1990. After four years with a Memphis based brokerage company Jim opened his own company in December of 1993. Since 1989 he has focused exclusively on commercial and industrial sales and leasing. In November 2002 he was awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute, a division of the National Association of Realtors. See news release for more info. Prior to becoming a full time real estate agent/broker, Jim Brown was Director of Business Development with Carothers Construction Company from 1988 until 1990. From 1982 until 1988, Jim was the Executive Director of the DeSoto County MS Economic Development Council. During his tenure there was an average of 8 new companies per year located in DeSoto County. An average of 10 existing companies per year expanded their operations in the county. After graduating from Mississippi State University in 1981 with a degree in business, he joined the North Mississippi Industrial Development Association in West Point, MS. These experiences in the public and private sectors have given Jim the insight of how vital a community's attitudes are toward creating and maintaining a pro-business environment.
BROWN AWARDED CCIM DESIGNATION
DeSoto County's First Designee
Jim Brown, real estate broker and owner of Brown Properties in Southaven, MS has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute. The designation was awarded Thursday, November 7, 2002 during the Institute meetings in New Orleans, Louisiana. The CCIM designation is awarded to commercial real estate professionals upon completion of a graduate-level curriculum and attainment of a level of qualifying experience. CCIMs are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management, valuation, and investment analysis, and form a business network encompassing 1,000 markets throughout North America, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean. Of the estimated 125,000 commercial real estate practitioners in North America, 7,000 currently hold the CCIM designation. Mr. Brown is one of forty designees in the state of Mississippi and DeSoto County's first. Mr. Brown has been in the commercial and industrial real estate business for the last 13 years. He is licensed in the state of Mississippi as well as Tennessee. Prior to entering the real estate field Mr. Brown served as executive director of the DeSoto County Economic Development Council for six years. As well as being involved in various city and county organizations Mr. Brown has recently been elected to serve as president for the Mississippi Commercial Association of Realtors. He and his wife Melinda have two children and are members of Trinity Baptist Church. The Chicago-based CCIM Institute is an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors and is the governing body of the largest commercial real estate network in the world.
Bob Ginn received his degree in Urban Planning from Murray State University in 1975 and has been in real estate development, consulting, and/or sales since that time. Prior to joining Brown Properties in 2006, Bob was a planner/project manager with the Memphis engineering firms of Reaves & Sweeney and Fisher & Arnold. He was also the Director of Residential Development for Belz Enterprises of Memphis. In addition to his association with Brown Properties, Bob is President of Land Development Resources, LLC, a real estate consulting firm.
